This RARE 1940 HAMILTON Grade 917 Model 1, 17 Jewel Yellow Gold Filled Pocket Watch is absolutely fantastic! The fine mint state of the dial is absolutely beautiful featuring a classic Hamilton satin brushed finished with oxidized gold arabic hourmarkers. The watch overall has been minimally used in its lifetime however one areas of physical damage is of note. The watch was dropped and the case has a prominent dent in the side (see photos) that minorly affects the closure of the outer caseback. Overall, the case remains quite tight otherwise and in wearable condition with only table scuffs present and a few minor scratches. The movement is running strong. A Note From The Watch Doctor:
This piece has been evaluated by our in-house watchmaker to be in working order with no major mechanical issues present. The balance and mainspring are good. The watch is currently running strong and keeping time. A full service is recommended to maintain proper timekeeping function. The most notable flaw in this piece is in the clutch. A full evaluation has not been performed, however, an internal issue appears to be causing the crown and stem to not fully engage from winding to setting about 10% of the time during use. Otherwise, the movement is pristine.
